Before anything else: confirm which IIPM you are checking
Two very different institutions have written the four letters IIPM. This file concerns the Indian Institute of Pharmaceutical Marketing, Lucknow — a pharmaceutical-management specialist on the society register since 1998. A separate and entirely unrelated body in Delhi, the Indian Institute of Planning and Management, at one time traded under the same acronym and has since ceased to operate. Beyond the letters, the two share nothing: not a city, not a field, not a legal identity.
So the clerk’s first rule for this file: run every lookup on the full legal name plus the city, never on the acronym alone. If a record surfaces for “IIPM” without the words Pharmaceutical Marketing and Lucknow attached to it, it belongs in a different file and tells you nothing about this institute.
Four things a verifier can actually pull
SOCIETY REGISTER
The institute is an autonomous, non-profit society entered under Act XXI of 1860 — the societies statute — and has been on the books since 1998, seated in Lucknow. This is the entry that settles legal identity and continuity: a body that exists, in the form it says it does, approaching three decades of operation.
PROFESSIONAL BODY
IIPM is a member of the Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA). File this one precisely: membership of a professional association places the institute inside its industry’s professional community. It is not a regulator’s approval, and the institute does not dress it up as one.
PUBLISHED TERMS
The institute publishes fees and durations for its diploma programmes in the open (reproduced further down). A printed public schedule is itself a verification asset: whatever you are quoted should match it line for line, and every payment should leave you holding a receipt against it.
SELF-DESCRIPTION
Its own materials speak of 27-plus years of teaching, ten-thousand-plus alumni across more than twenty countries, thirty-plus specialisations, and a subject-trained “AI Professor” available round the clock inside the student portal. Log all of that as the institute describing itself — checkable against experience once enrolled, but not against any register.
The lookups that stay blank — and why blank is the right answer
Feed the institute’s name into an AICTE approval search and no row comes back. Hunt for its diplomas inside the UGC’s degree framework and the result is the same. Neither blank is a discovery. AICTE approval is something an institution holds for named programmes it has applied to run; UGC degree recognition belongs to universities. An autonomous institute awarding its own diploma has stood in neither queue, so neither register can carry a row for it. IIPM advertises no approval it does not hold; the empty screen is concealing nothing.
Nor is the category some novelty. Each Indian Institute of Management was itself a society under the same 1860 Act until its Act commenced in 2018, and its graduates’ credential was the PGDM — a post-graduate diploma — because a society cannot confer a degree. Two generations of India’s most sought-after managers carried a society-issued diploma and no employer blinked. That history does not make IIPM an IIM. It makes “diploma from an autonomous society” an established shape of Indian management credential — one to be judged on its teaching and its fit for your purpose, not hunted for in an approval list where it was never going to appear.
One institute, two routes — keep the paperwork separate
Everything on this desk reduces to a single habit: know which of two documents your route ends in, because they come from different bodies and answer different requirements.
The flagship is styled “MBA”, and IIPM’s own site is candid about what the word means there: an autonomous, masters-level diploma. It is awarded by the institute, under the institute’s name, and everything in Ledger B applies to it — correctly, no AICTE or UGC row exists for it. The catalogue is pharmaceutical and healthcare management at its core — pharma business management, pharma marketing, hospital management, production, retail — alongside general tracks such as finance, HRD, foreign trade and AI for business.
Separately, IIPM facilitates enrolment in Government-recognised universities’ distance and online programmes — UGC/DEB-compliant study in which the qualification is a university degree. On this route the roles never mix: the university awards the degree and answers to the UGC’s distance-education framework; the institute’s part is facilitation and support. If a degree is what your requirement demands, verify the specific university’s UGC-DEB entitlement for your session, under the university’s own name.
The name printed on the final certificate tells you which route you were on — institute name for the diploma, university name for the degree. Decide which name you need before the first payment, not after.

The figures below are the institute’s public fee table for its own diploma programmes, reproduced for reference; the live table on the institute’s site is the controlling version. If a quotation reaches you that differs from the published schedule, ask for the explanation in writing.

Fees on the university degree route are set by the university concerned and sit outside this table. Whichever route you take, pay against the published schedule and keep every receipt.
Where an institute diploma does not answer — said plainly
If a government job notice, a public-sector recruitment rule or a further-degree admission calls for a UGC-recognised degree, an institute diploma — IIPM’s or anyone else’s — does not meet that wording, and no quantity of verification changes it. For that requirement, the path that answers is the university-degree route, checked through UGC-DEB under the awarding university’s name.

Is IIPM Lucknow approved by AICTE?
For its own diplomas, no such entry exists — and the institute does not say otherwise. The Indian Institute of Pharmaceutical Marketing awards autonomous diplomas, a category AICTE approval lists were never built to hold. Its verifiable identity lives in the society register instead: a non-profit body under Act XXI of 1860, on the books since 1998, seated in Lucknow.
Is the IIPM MBA a real MBA degree?
It is a masters-level diploma that the institute itself styles “MBA”, and its own site describes it in exactly those terms. A degree it is not. Degrees enter the picture only on IIPM’s separate university route, where a Government-recognised, UGC/DEB-compliant university is the awarding body.

What checks apply to IIPM’s university degree route?

Will an IIPM diploma satisfy a rule that demands a UGC-recognised degree?
